There is no doubt that none of us could have predicted the past year!
As we slowly begin to open up again all of us in the industry and many brides and grooms -to be – will be thinking, Weddings!
I am Jayne Louise Photography, a Portsmouth, Hampshire based Wedding & Family Photographer. As I prepare for the 2021 season it’s all about sustainable weddings in Hampshire this year.
This year’s trend is local, intimate and aiming to support as many local companies and small businesses as you can in your county.
It seems buffets and receiving lines are on the way out and local Artisan butchers, bakers, cake makers and local vineyards are on the way in.
Perhaps you have a sustainable farmer nearby who can help provide you with an array of the items you need? It’s worth searching online as there may be many on your doorstep that you aren’t aware of yet.
Traditional churches are making a comeback, I just love Portsmouth Cathedral otherwise known as The Cathedral Church of St Thomas of Canterbury.
A smaller more intimate church is St Peters Church on Hayling Island it is absolutely gorgeous. Two churches I have visited many, many times.
The decorative side of the venue and church gives a nod towards luscious greenery and cascades of foliage, which includes ferns, succulents, garlands of eucalyptus and even cactus! Big floral bouquets moving over for some to something simple that makes a statement. Really giving off those English garden vibes. With some dusky pink roses & flowers woven through what a delight!
I can just see all the greenery and ambient lighting now, a photographer’s dream.
One such florist living in Hampshire that depicts all these stunning floral and greenery displays is Rhoda Louise Floral Displays.
A signature style tends towards grand, scented blooms and naturally flowing greenery. Rhoda loves to create the feel of a romantic ‘secret garden’ for you and your wedding guests. Using ‘David Austin’ garden roses, peonies and hydrangeas overflowing with greenery in lofty pedestals or statement arches, garden-style floral aisle with tall delphiniums and scented stocks, full flowery top table arrangements, your wedding flowers will fit your unique fairy tale perfectly.
Now ladies the dress, yes the dress! Puff sleeves and long sleeves are in favour in 2021.
Would you like an intimate boutique wedding dress experience all to yourself?
I have found The Hideaway Boutique in Yateley, Hampshire.
Their wedding dresses and accessories including veils, tiaras, headpieces, jewellery and belts are gorgeous! Your appointment means you get the boutique to yourself!
One of my favourite jewellers for those engagement and wedding bands is the very talented Charlotte Cornelius in Marmion Road Southsea. All designed and hand-made on site by their own Goldsmiths.
One of my favourite subjects and something I adore is great tasting food! We are so lucky in Southsea to have such a wide variety of delicious delis and bakers. Two of my favourites are in Southsea and are The Southsea Deli & The Parade Tea Rooms
The Southsea Deli is mother and son Team Gillian & Daniel. The Deli was set up in 2018. Both have enjoyed cooking and eating together since Daniel was a teenager and their lifelong dream to turn their passion for food into a livelihood.
Daniel has trained in food quality and has spent the past nine years working in Jamie Oliver HQ, from where he has travelled the world researching food ethical issues, animal welfare and sustainability.
The idea behind the deli was to bring independently and ethically produced food to the people of Southsea and as an alternative to shopping in the big chains. They aim to champion seasonal food and cater to the needs of their community. Their deli truck has kept the people of Portsmouth going during lockdown based on our fantastic beach at Eastney and is available to hire for weddings! They cater for weddings and their menu is under their catering section!
The Parade Tea Rooms is Mark Hogan’s brainchild with his sole focus on providing the very best food service and standard. Mark has spent 15 years in the food industry and is a chef by trade. He has a head chef and 4 chefs creating the most creative and incredible food and cakes.
I think this brings us on very nicely to wedding CAKES!
I think it’s fair to say I am absolutely and unashamedly addicted to cake!
My Little Shop of Cakes has 10 years of experience in the Wedding Cake industry and is based on the Hampshire border. Vanessa is the owner of this lovely local business.
Up and coming creative cake designer and baker is Say It with Cake by Nell Head.
Nell is in Ash on the Hampshire border and her cakes look divine!
If you are getting married in 2021 then think about intimate ceremonies, micro weddings, luscious greenery and English gardens with nostalgic family threads throughout!
Well, I could just go on and on about all the wonderful businesses we have in Hampshire. If you would like me to capture your wedding memories, then please contact me or give me a call for a free consultation. All my contact details are on my contact page.
